SHE, SO FREE. HE, SO OLD
It was an intense encounter after several days of dense silence. Both were sitting at the small table in the restaurant, sharing short sentences that helped to avoid the important and embarrassing topics between them. The secret complaints were hidden by laughs, indifferent glances and listless snacks.
A small question came to the table like a joke that invited them to deepen the forgetting of the most important reasons to stay together that night: “If you could get a super power, which super power do you wish to have?” She started to think about the question. It seemed difficult for her to find an answer but suddenly, she said with a big twinkle in her eyes:
—I want the power to do whatever I want.
Then he said:
—I want to live forever. I don't know if it is a good super power, but, with it, I can have the enough time to do whatever I want, too.
—My super power is better than yours. —She said. —I don't need much time to do whatever I want.
He saw her with a smile and said:
—With my time, I could learn how to get you do what I like, meanwhile, you are thinking that you are doing whatever you want.
Also, she smiled and said:
—With my power, you will be thinking that I am doing the thing that you are wishing.
Then, he stopped smiling and talking because she had made her point. It was necessary to give a credible signal for convincing her that she was free.
